VEE - Guatemala echter Antigua, 1.10lb whole beans |
Guatemala produces one of the best coffees worldwide. The absolute top-class varietal VEE also uses is called Potreo.
VEE sets the standard for unique top-class coffee and country roasts. Mr Scharaffia is the heart and soul of the company with his phenomenal coffee expertise and Mr Wolfram Tismer takes care of buying the coffee around the world. VEE spells pleasure of the rarest quality. I only know a few people who know their way around with coffee and its optimal roasting as Mr Scharaffia, Mr Tismer and his wife Kusaya, called VEE. One could think they have only put it into their heads to roast grade 1 coffee for life. A Mercedes would not be enough for them; their requirements to raw coffee at least have to be Maybach standard. It sounds quite ambitious, nevertheless VEE Caffè does put these maxims into practice, and very consistently so. They still roast hand-selected high-grown gourmet Arabica coffees from about 2000m, what are called Grand Cru coffees from Indonesia, East Africa and Latin America. Only the Grand Cru coffees, growing in high mountain regions under excellent climatic conditions to ripeness more slowly, which makes them much harder, are suited for careful, intense and substantially more aromatic roasts. That is why all VEE coffees develop their characteristic fragrance, an intense aroma and all nuances typical of coffee flavour to the full, something of which supermarket coffees do not have the slightest hint. Besides, VEE coffees have much lower acidity, are richer and possess long lasting aromas. The freshly roasted beans release such intense fragrance.
Guatemala produces one of the best coffees worldwide near the old capital of Antigua. Altitudes of up to 2000m, regular rainfalls and fertile volcanic soil are first-class climatic conditions. Sunny days and cool nights leave the coffee in high altitudes and under shadowy trees to ripe slower, which refines the characteristic profile of the flavour. In addition, the beans from high altitudes grow harder so that they can tolerate a darker roast, which again brings the aroma fully out. VEE Guatemala genuine Antigua is full-bodied with exquisite, nearly perfect richness and fine, sparkling acidity as well as savoury aromas and nuances of chocolate. Like all full-bodied coffees you can drink this one black and also with milk. |
