New York Caffè Columbia comes from the highland around Huila and Medellin. Top-class coffee with a mild, slightly nutty flavour and a rich, balanced aroma. Unfortunately, Columbia whose main export good is coffee is often firstly associated with drug cartels. However, coffee, which thrives under first-rate climatic conditions, is the real wealth of the country bringing in the desperately needed progress. There are about 300,000 farmers growing coffee out of which 90% cultivate less than five ha. A large number of them is covered by the non-profit FNCC trade organisation which really sets standards in terms of quality. The best origins are found in highlands near Huila and Medellin; a true rarity comes from Narinio of which hardly any coffee gets to the European market apart from minor amounts for the Vatican. The Asian countries buy these quality coffees for next to any price. Cyclist Miguel Indurain who won the Tour de France several times was the most prominent person advertising Caffè del Columbia.
Top-class coffees from Columbia have a mild, slightly nutty flavour and a full-bodied, rich and balanced aroma. It is a genuinely great pleasure for a realistic price. 250g New York Columbia are sufficient for about 35 cups, which reduces the price to 20 Cents per cup. Price per 1000g = € 23.96. |
