Martella Caffe Coffee Espresso - Maximum Class, 2.20lb whole beans
Martella Caffè is a top-class roast made in the best Italian tradition with much passion and love – mild and exquisite in flavour with a slightly chocolaty aroma. Generations of the Martella family were working as Baristas and roasters for important Italian coffeehouses before the Martella brothers set out on separate ways. While Azeglio Martella takes care of the traditional family business Haiti Sud the other Martella brother established his own business, Martella, in via Garibaldi in the centre of Rome. Recommended by Mr. Modersohn we are now offering the two brands Maximum (90/10) and Mirius (80/20).
Martella Maximum Class is the number one brand, an excellent roast of the best Arabica beans from Central and South America. For each varietal to develop the best possible result each of them is roasted separately and slowly for 12 to 18 minutes in a rotating drum before being blended. This method is much more elaborate, however produces the finest and best quality.
Martella Maximum Class has a very nice and consistent roasting degree and has virtually no broken beans. Its flavour is full-bodied with very mild acidity. Taken neat it is an absolute pleasure. May be it is lacking outstanding features a bit too much, but it has a full flavour that pleases the palate and a slight chocolaty note. This peasant coffee flavour is felt very long.
