Izzo roasters are based in Boscoreale in the Italian province Campania, or exactly speaking near Naples and Pompeii. In contrast to Kimbo Caffè which is always rather scarce and virtually the Neapolitans’ private brand Izzo mainly exports to the whole world. Since they set great store by visual as well as product quality they developed a tin similar to the system Illy uses too: the tin is equipped with a special aroma filter. An additional airtight lid prevents the beans from loosing aroma or flavour.
Izzo Espresso Neapolitano is roasted slowly at medium temperature for a bout 18 minutes. Due to this technique the negative acidity and bitter substances are reduced to a bare minimum, the typical coffee features such as richness and aroma on the other hand are brought out. This is also the reason why the roasted beans have an even, nearly shiny surface. This roasting technique which only a few top producers apply is very elaborate as it takes a lot of accuracy and only small batches can be processed at a time. What you have in your cup at the end of the day is absolute top-class coffee.
Even though this might sound relatively banal: Shake the tin a little, open it and sniff the fantastic smooth and delightful bouquet and the fragrance of these roasted beans; it is addictive. |
