Because of the special conditions shall apply in Nepal coffee connoisseurs as unusual and unique with a legendary reputation. Coffee gourmets appreciate this rarity due to the strong flavor and fine acidity.
It is still an insider tip for all Gourmet Coffee
So far, the Kingdom of Nepal was known primarily for its high number of eight-thousand mountains, especially the infamous Mount Everest (8848 m). As the residents hired mostly as small farmers with the cultivation of tea or with low support services, were in the early nineties, created using the fair trade area, the first commercial coffee plantations. An important background for these measures was the creation of self-sustainable livelihoods. About the Trade Fair Trade revenues from coffee exports are then reinvested to promote afforestation and soil conservation, and projects in remote villages such as building schools and regular medical care.
Currently, some 1,200 small farmers are working to manage the approximately 150,000 coffee plants. Despite the now proven economic relevance, the public sector has almost completely returned with additional support.
Because of the high-producing regions and the varying temperatures grow coffee trees as well as the coffee cherries are relatively slow and hard. If one moves on the international market yet more bad than good with four tons, the situation in recent years has taken a startling turn.
The current production is still only about 15 tonnes per crop, but it is still far too little for the incredibly high demand (which is clearly at the expense of Jamaica Blue Mountain). All coffee is 100 percent washed, sun-dried, completely read and hand-sorted.
Furthermore, the organic farming without any chemical fertilizers is an absolute priority. The regional coffee growers, now in marketing issues supported by a regionally based cooperative, have found one with Japan as well as the Mount Everest gigantic market.
In collaboration with one of the largest Japanese trading companies as part of Fair Trade, opened up to almost doubling as a relevant market. Today, coffee from Nepal an internationally sought after specialty, the farmers can get excellent prices for their beans.
For several years, however, has now also the coffee from the Himalayan region among European gourmets an excellent reputation. Because of the special conditions shall apply in Nepal coffee connoisseurs as unusual and unique with a legendary reputation.
Coffee gourmets appreciate this rarity due to the strong flavor and fine acidity. The favor of gourmets has earned the Nepal Himalaya Estate coffee with its characteristic flavor and fine almond and nut flavors.
